Rolo – Survivor of a Public Shelter's story

Rolo may seem curious at first glance, but inside he is always on guard. You cannot approach him suddenly or touch him without his whole body reacting. He tenses up, trembles slightly, and his eyes follow everything with a vigilance that never rests.

It is not aggression, nor a passing fear. It is pure caution, learned from hard experiences. Any unexpected gesture makes him step back.

Rolo does not seek forced closeness — he needs patience, calm, and time.

Through sponsorship/adoption at a distance, you can help provide the food, care, and emotional support he needs to discover, step by step, that safety is possible.

Stand by Rolo. With respect and patience, a cautious soul can learn to trust again.

If you’d rather make a single contribution instead of sponsoring monthly, you can make a one-off donation to support Rolo – Survivor of a Public Shelter.

Your gift will help cover the cost of food, veterinary care, shelter and everything else they need throughout the year.

Unlike monthly sponsorship, this option does not include regular updates or a dedicated sponsorship relationship with Rolo – Survivor of a Public Shelter. It’s simply another meaningful way to help provide the care they deserve.

Why dogs like Rolo – Survivor of a Public Shelter need sponsors

Every year, thousands of dogs are abandoned on the streets of Romania.

Many eventually arrive at Speranța Shelter after suffering neglect, illness or abuse. While we work tirelessly to find every dog a loving home, some simply wait much longer than others.

Older dogs, dogs with disabilities, and those carrying emotional scars are often overlooked despite having so much love to give.

Sponsorship allows dogs like Rolo – Survivor of a Public Shelter to receive everything they need for as long as they’re with us. It also helps us continue rescuing the next stray dog with nowhere else to go.
