It is the first line of defense against cold, rain, heat, and fear. Without proper kennels, dogs in shelters suffer, especially during harsh weather.
Winter in a dog shelter does not bring warmth or comfort. It brings freezing temperatures, damp ground, long nights, and endless waiting. A solid kennel is often the only thing standing between a shelter dog and the cold.
For a rescued dog, the kennel is the only place that belongs solely to them. It is where they curl up when it is too cold or too hot.
The place where they hide from the rain.
The place where they gather their courage for a new day.
Right now, many of the kennels at Speranța Shelter can no longer provide this protection. Old wood is rotting, roofs are broken and damaged structures let cold and moisture inside. Some dogs, stressed and bored, chew the weakened timber. Making already unsafe kennels even more fragile. Winter shows no mercy, and without immediate help, our dogs are left exposed.
We are raising funds to provide new, safe kennels for every dog in our shelter. Our goal is simple: every dog deserves a dry, insulated, secure kennel that keeps the cold outside and offers comfort inside.

Unfortunately, Gift Aid is only available for donations made to eligible UK charities. As Speranța Shelter is based in Romania, Gift Aid does not currently apply.
Speranța Shelter provides lifelong care for over 500 rescued dogs, including senior, disabled, and traumatised dogs who have nowhere else to go.
