Max's story

Max – a lonely soul who still believes in people

Max was brought to the shelter after his owner passed away. It was just the two of them, and the owner’s family couldn’t keep him—they said they were afraid of dogs and that the shelter would be better for him. Maybe it is, but Max has a broken heart.

He’s used to living alongside a human and wishes more than anything to feel the warmth of a loving presence again. A shelter is not the ideal place for a dog with such a heavy story.

Max needs support for food, care, and peace until he finds a new friend or family. Through long-distance adoption, you can be the helping hand that shows him people can be kind.

HOW DOES SPONSORSHIP WORK?

Set-up your sponsorship

Tell us a little about you, choose your monthly amount and confirm your sponsorship with your first payment. After that, it’s automatic, nothing more for you to do.

Receive updates

Once your sponsorship begins, we'll send you a welcome email with your sponsorship certificate. Every month, you'll receive updates and photos, so you can see how Max is doing and the difference your support is making.

3.

Manage your sponsorship

You can manage your donation by accessing the Donor Portal from the emails confirming your monthly payment. You can edit or cancel your sponsorship anytime.

Your gift will help cover the cost of food, veterinary care, shelter and everything else they need throughout the year.

Unlike monthly sponsorship, this option does not include regular updates or a dedicated sponsorship relationship with Max. It’s simply another meaningful way to help provide the care they deserve.

Why dogs like Max need sponsors

Every year, thousands of dogs are abandoned on the streets of Romania.

Many eventually arrive at Speranța Shelter after suffering neglect, illness or abuse. While we work tirelessly to find every dog a loving home, some simply wait much longer than others.

Older dogs, dogs with disabilities, and those carrying emotional scars are often overlooked despite having so much love to give.

Sponsorship allows dogs like Max to receive everything they need for as long as they’re with us. It also helps us continue rescuing the next stray dog with nowhere else to go.
