Maronica Mare's story

Maronica Mare – a quiet presence who still needs you

Maronica Mare is 12 years old. She is a large female dog with brown fur, a white collar, white “tie,” white front legs, and a white stripe on her muzzle and head. She is beautiful but hard to touch — she doesn’t let herself be petted and prefers to keep her distance, perhaps because of her past.

Even though she can’t receive affection directly, she still needs support. Through long-distance adoption, you can help provide her with good food, medical care, and a peaceful place to spend her old age.

HOW DOES SPONSORSHIP WORK?

Sponsoring Maronica Mare is easy

1.

Set-up your sponsorship

Tell us a little about you, choose your monthly amount and confirm your sponsorship with your first payment. After that, it’s automatic, nothing more for you to do.

2.

Receive updates

Once your sponsorship begins, we'll send you a welcome email with your sponsorship certificate. Every month, you'll receive updates and photos, so you can see how Maronica Mare is doing and the difference your support is making.

3.

Manage your sponsorship

You can manage your donation by accessing the Donor Portal from the emails confirming your monthly payment. You can edit or cancel your sponsorship anytime.

Prefer to make a one-off gift?

If you’d rather make a single contribution instead of sponsoring monthly, you can make a one-off donation to support Maronica Mare.

Your gift will help cover the cost of food, veterinary care, shelter and everything else they need throughout the year.

Unlike monthly sponsorship, this option does not include regular updates or a dedicated sponsorship relationship with Maronica Mare. It’s simply another meaningful way to help provide the care they deserve.

Why dogs like Maronica Mare need sponsors

Every year, thousands of dogs are abandoned on the streets of Romania.

Many eventually arrive at Speranța Shelter after suffering neglect, illness or abuse. While we work tirelessly to find every dog a loving home, some simply wait much longer than others.

Older dogs, dogs with disabilities, and those carrying emotional scars are often overlooked despite having so much love to give.

Sponsorship allows dogs like Maronica Mare to receive everything they need for as long as they’re with us. It also helps us continue rescuing the next stray dog with nowhere else to go.
