He is not aggressive or disobedient. It is pure vigilance, built from years of adaptation and mistrust. Any approach makes him freeze and silently convey: “I don’t know what to expect yet.”

Hector does not seek forced contact. He needs patience and respect for his own pace.

Why dogs like Hector need sponsors

Every year, thousands of dogs are abandoned on the streets of Romania.

Many eventually arrive at Speranța Shelter after suffering neglect, illness or abuse. While we work tirelessly to find every dog a loving home, some simply wait much longer than others.

Older dogs, dogs with disabilities, and those carrying emotional scars are often overlooked despite having so much love to give.

Sponsorship allows dogs like Hector to receive everything they need for as long as they’re with us. It also helps us continue rescuing the next stray dog with nowhere else to go.
