At the Suraia shelter, her life was full of fear and loneliness, and people offered her nothing but indifference. She didn’t know what it meant to be seen, loved, or protected.

When we came for her, we discovered a delicate, fragile soul, yet full of kindness. We took her out of that cold, silent place, and for the first time, she was seen as a being with the right to happiness.

At Speranța, Angelica learned what it means to be respected, pampered, and loved without fear. Play, gentle touches, and attention from those around her transformed fear into trust, and shyness into curiosity.

Today, Angelica radiates gentleness and calm. Every look, every timid step, every amazed blink shows that angelic souls exist in the real world — and that love can heal any wounded heart.

Why dogs like Angelica need sponsors

Every year, thousands of dogs are abandoned on the streets of Romania.

Many eventually arrive at Speranța Shelter after suffering neglect, illness or abuse. While we work tirelessly to find every dog a loving home, some simply wait much longer than others.

Older dogs, dogs with disabilities, and those carrying emotional scars are often overlooked despite having so much love to give.

Sponsorship allows dogs like Angelica to receive everything they need for as long as they’re with us. It also helps us continue rescuing the next stray dog with nowhere else to go.

Today, more than 500 dogs rely on us every day for food, medical treatment, rehabilitation and a safe place to live while they wait for a forever home.
